□ Standards & Open Source Research Division
Standards & Open Source Research Division is a specialized group for ICT standardization technology, policy and strategy which carries out preemptive standardization on future core and national strategic technologies, and leading global ICT technical standardization activities.
And we are focusing on ICT-based digital transformation and consumer-centered standardization to solve public and social issues. Additionally, we are managing open source governance to counterfeit open source risk and to support effective open source related R&D works. Other activities such as promoting international cooperation with relevant organizations, and cultivating global leader class committer for open source SW development are also our role and duty.
At ITU-T, IEC, ISO and ISO/IEC JTC 1, we are taking the leading role in international standardization to represent the Republic of Korea.
□ Open Source Center
The Open Source Center is responsible for ETRI‘s open source policies and governance as well as supporting an open source compliance for the software development as R&D outcomes in ETRI, including the supply chain management for open source software. The Open Source Center is also providing the guidelines for the open source based R&D activities and is supporting a government policy and strategy for open source.
□ Intelligence & Information Standards Research Section
The Intelligence & Information Standards Research Section is responsible for standardization of future ICT standard technology on intelligence and information. In particular, we pursue standardization of core technologies of the fourth industrial revolution such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, big data, mobile (5G/6G), IoT, blockchain, multimedia communication, and autonomous vehicles. At 3GPP, W3C, and IETF, we focus on developing international standards in cooperation with various industry stakeholders.
□ ICT Convergence Standards Research Section
The ICT Convergence Standards Research Section develops technologies and standards on convergence between ICTs and ICT and other industries. We are working on digital twin, smart city, smart manufacturing, smart energy and electric safety, smart agricultural and food, service robot, and people's living safety and disaster response including K-quarantine model. In addition, we are doing support of technical regulations for broadcasting and telecommunication facilities, as well as carrying out standardization activities to solve problems in areas related to people's lives such as transportation, national defense and welfare.
