The Technology Planning Department is comprised of the Technology Planning Strategy Section, Originality Basic Technology Planning Section, and Mega-Project Technology Planning Section.

The Technology Planning Department establishes the ETRI technology vision and promotes future R&D integrated technology planning for all researchers. The main tasks include establishing mid- and long-term technology development plans for ETRI, solving national social problems, discovering and planning high-risk, challenging, and creative research technologies, and planning large-scale projects.
