ETRI-CAICT signed MOU for 5G Standardization
On April 28, ETRI and CAICT(Chinese Academy of Information and Communications Technology) signed MOU for ICT collaboration and held the first workshop at the CAICT headquarters in Beijing.

As a collaboration effort pursued by ETRI and the leading ICT institution in China, this MOU is aimed at creating new value through cooperation in 5G standardization, the sharing of 4G experience, and other collaboration in field of ICT.

Through this initiative, the two parties are planning to share information and experience as well as strengthen solidarity by holding annual workshops to identify areas for further mutual cooperation.

The first ETRI-CAICT workshop is a follow-up measure of the Ministerial meeting between Korea and China held in 2014.
The workshop provided an opportunity to explore the technological areas where the two parties may cooperate with each other and consisted of four sessions; 4G technology and market development, vision and directions for development of 5G wired and wireless telecommunications, next-generation network areas, and technological development and policy trends for smart cities.

President of the CAICT remarked, “I hope ETRI and the CAICT will cooperate in forming a partnership to create a new synergy effect in the global ICT market.”
Dr. Heung Nam Kim, President of ETRI, also expressed confidence that “the collaboration Between the two parties collaboration is responsible for establishing ICT strategies in China will create a new market in the field of ICT.”

The two parties are committed to exerting concerted efforts to contribute to their mutual development based on the agreed terms for collaboration, including annual workshops and collaborative research.
