The sky is blue and the sheep get fat

Autumn has come, and there is a place where you can feel the autumn breeze and blue sky.
Daegwanryeong Sky Ranch, a natural farm for firsthand experience,
brings the serenity and abundance of the season.

Vast Grasslands

In preparation for the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics,
the area around Sky Ranch was designated as a special Olympics district.
Daegwanryeong Sky Ranch was opened to the public in September 2014
so that all visitors can enjoy the fresh air and the blue sky.
It took 40 years since its foundation in 1974.

What makes Sky Ranch more special is that it is an experience-based farm adapted to the natural environment.
Retaining the old structure, Sky Ranch established a variety of trails with the paths taken by shepherds and
maintained the natural settings such as forests and streams as well as the natural ecosystems of the hilly grasslands.
Visitors will witness that Sky Ranch is indeed “The land of milk and honey.”

Expansive Autumn Sky

A bumpy ride on a tractor carriage for three kilometers of a dirt and
gravel path will bring you to Sky Observatory situated on the 800-meter-high ridge.
Walk uphill for about 20 minutes and you will reach Seonjaryeong, the highest peak in the Daegwanryeong area.
This area is known for its constantly changing weather.
But if you are lucky enough, you will be able to enjoy the lofty sky, bluer and deeper than the oceans.

The extensive grasslands, gigantic wind turbines that never cease spinning,
the horizons of the vast East Sea—in this unique world
you will feel as though you are weightlessly floating in the air.
You are also invited to lie on the grasslands, gaze into the autumn sky,
and experience the overwhelming power of the expansive sky.

Green Forest Trails

Now, let’s go down to Sky Observatory again and stroll downhill along Vast Landscape Path.
This green trail cuts across the vast ridge, and all visitors can absorb
the healthy energy of nature through their steps on the dirt and grass.
Sky Ranch houses about 400 Holstein milk cows and 100 head of Korean native cattle within highly modernized facilities
and puts the cattle out to pasture as a way of raising them in an eco-friendly manner.
Now, the sky above Seonjaryeong is turning red.

All crops in the world should endure the summer heat to bear precious fruits in the coming autumn.
We too might have our own fruit to harvest, and we all deserve to experience and enjoy the delights of this season of abundance.
One simple tip: Go on a ride to Sky Ranch and take in what nature has to offer.
