ETRI’s 45 years in photos

  • ETRI participated in the "Korea Electronics Show (KES) 2017," the largest electronics trade show in Korea, and introduced its latest research outcomes.

  • ETRI participated in the "ITU Telecom World 2017," the world's biggest ICT Olympics, and presented the "IDX Strategy," an implementation strategy for
    the Fourth Industrial Revolution, along with 13 other technologies, receiving a positive response from the public.

  • ETRI participated in the "2018 Mobile World Congress (MWC)," the world’s largest mobile communication trade show held
    in Barcelona, Spain, and promoted an overseas marketing campaign with a joint research institute.

  • The Ultra Wide Vision (UWV) system comprised of 48 multi-panels (the Pyeongchang ICT Olympics Lounge at the Incheon International Airport in 2018)

  • A new employee dormitory and a daycare center, which will create good housing and childrearing environments for the researchers,
    were completed after two-year construction period, which started in 2016.

  • In 2016, "Etturi," the mascot of ETRI, was created by the ideas received from the employees and their family members.
    In 2020, additional family mascots such as "Etturia" were created.

  • ETRI developed a tangible simulator based on the state-of-the-art VR technology that can be used in the fire drills using actual firefighting tools
    in a virtual environment modeled after a fire accident.

  • ETRI successfully demonstrated the drone delivery service jointly developed and researched by Korea Post.

  • In November 2019, ETRI's AI technology won a human competitor in a license plate recognition contest

  • In September 2020, Convergence Commercialization Center (CCC) gained an official English name, and ETRI held a signboard-hanging ceremony to celebrate it.

  • In July 2020, the ETRI Library underwent renovation and started its night time and weekend operations in earnest.

  • In August 2020, ETRI won the Prototype of the Year at the "2020 Display Week" hosted by Society for Information Display (SID).

  • The late Dr. Ahn Byung-sung (fourth from the right) was selected as the "Person of Distinguished Service to Science and

  • The celebratory event commemorating the 45th anniversary since the establishment of ETRI was held online.
    At the event, the Researcher of the Year was awarded, and research outcomes achieved by the employees were acknowledged.
