Giga Service Research Department

  • A high capacity bi-directional gigabit content technology
    The Giga Service Research Division has created Tele-Experience gigabit technology for high-capacity bidirectional super multi-view / holographic content. This core technology allows multiple users to simultaneously participate in the gigabit wired and wireless network environments as well as two-way core technology development systems. In this way users can take advantage of developing a realistic content in holographic content, education, healthcare and broadcasting with features including :

  • Multisensory and affective information-based immersive application/service platform technology
    We are developing core technologies of multisensory and affective information-based immersive application service platforms with the aim to bring true sense of immersion to users by enhancing their visual, auditory, haptic, olfactory, and affective experiences. Such technologies include multi-modal user affective data acquisition, multisensory information construction, recognition, information exchange, and management for a wide range of applications such as tele-presence video conference, smartwork, tele-medicine, winter sports simulator, and serious games.
    In addition, we have been developing a semi-automated multi-sensory effect authoring system for easy and fast production of 4D media with minimal user intervention. The authoring system extracts sensory-related features, objects, activities, and tags from conventional audio-video media and constructs sensory effect metadata by determining the types of sensory effects and their attributes from the extracted information for realistic media services. We are also working towards developing killer XD (X-dimensional) media applications and services based on our original authoring technologies.

  • Digital Holography Core Technology
    The research section has developed the core technology to enable user to look the same scene as seen in the present place only through holographic image shown on the digital display. Moreover, the research team has strived to exploit the application technology of holographic video system that can be applied to a variety of industrial areas by integrating the core technology of holography into the other cutting-edge technology of communication/ computer/display/optical element etc., so that the technology of holography not only brings up user’s affluent emotion and experience much more through digital device but also creates new industrial area largely contributed to the improvement of global economy.

  • Digital Holographic 3D Video System Technology
    Holographic 3D video system let user experience the ultimate feeling of 3D by providing the holographic video, the full 3D information to reconstruct the natural scene as seen in the real world through the digital device such as LCD, LCoS and DMD. the next-generation technology that is applied to a variety of industrial areas such as broadcasting, electronic advertisement, printing, electronic microscope and event/exhibition in that it overcomes the drawbacks of the existing stereoscopic 3D such as the wearing of glasses, the limited number of view and the much fatigue of watching.
    The table-top digital holographic video display can provide real-time generation, transmission, and presentation of moving hologram images in 3-dimensional space.
