The Technology Strategy Research Division is responsible for exploring directions in the development of IT and IT-driven converged technologies.
An important part of our activities is assessing the potential economic impact of technologies planned for development and devising optimal strategies for creating industrial ecosystems for successful industrial application of new technologies.
The division’s overriding goals are to guide technology development efforts so that they respond to existing technological needs in our society and to provide directions for the national IT strategy of Korea.

To attain these goals, the division has set five missions for itself: namely, (1) creation of new economic and policy and market-related knowledge for IT-driven converged industries; (2) production of high-quality information through various information production techniques (3) discovery of new business ideas and models; (4) designing new ecosystems linking government-funded research organizations (technology development), private firms (commercialization, industrial application) and customers (users); and (5) providing directions for new technology development by predicting future market needs.

The various tasks under these missions, aimed at assisting the government with IT planning, are carried out by three departments, each responsible for specific areas of related duties.
The Techno-Economics Research Department is in charge of conducting economic analysis and industry analysis, essential for discovering new technology opportunities and maximizing the industrial applicability of new technologies.
The IT Services Policy Research Department is responsible for researching policy issues related to increasing the odds for successful commercialization of services enabled by newly-developed technologies.
The Standards Research Center, meanwhile, carries out standardization research to help accelerate the diffusion of technologies developed from government-funded projects. We appreciate your continuing interest and support for the Technology Strategy Research Division.
