Creative & Challenging Research Division (CCRD) organized in 2010, is dedicated to identify and lead the future new growth engines such as TDX, CDMAl, WiBro, and DMB in the area of IT convergence.

To achieve above goals, CCRD establishes renovative research environment through developing pilot projects in fundamental research areas, identifying large convergence technology projects, and conducting collaborative research among industry, academy, and national laboratory.

CCRD consists of five departments: IT Convergence Services Future Technology Research Department, SW & Contents Future Technology Research Department, Convergence Components & Materials Future Technology Research Department, Broadcasting & Telecommunications Convergence Future Technology Research Department, and Internet Future Technology Research Department. The major roles of the departments include development of the medium and long term research strategy and plan, conducting pilot research projects, and coordinating research areas as well as technical planning in their research areas.

As an effort to achieve the missions, CCRD initiates a new research group called a creative research team, to challenge/explore high-risk research projects, new concept creation, and fundamental research areas within a medium or long term research plan.

Guided by its vision of "Creating of New Concept", CCRD will continue to strive to make ETRI as a world leading IT laboratory.
