Wirelesss Telecommunications Research Department aims to develop core and key technologies in the area of wireless telecommunications technologies.
Including cellular technology, wireless telecommunications technologies spread out in a variety to WLAN and WPAN technologies. Moreover, they expand their areas so that the borders among them become ambiguous.
In some cases, convergence or combination technologies among them are going forward in a compensation manner for each other to form the future technology and services. Therefore, it is very important to develop continuously the relevant core technologies.
The main research fields as an application technology in this department are cellular modem chip set development, next generation WLAN technology development, mobile communication RF technology, and WPAN technology using 60GHz frequency band. Furthermore, in order to prepare the mid or long term core technology, there is a wireless telecommunication fundamental technology research field.
For the purpose of developing the core and key technologies, there are four research teams in this department and their missions are as the following:
In the future, wireless telecommunications will be expanded to convergence technology areas for more various services and will request core and key technologies using more efficiently frequency resources for the lower price services.
Accordingly in the telecommunications fields, extracting the convergence technology in combinations of cellular, WLAN, and WPAN, we are first going to develop the required core and key technologies like convergence modem chip set technology.
And then matching the step with the broadcasting and telecommunications convergence trend, we are intending to continuously extract and develop the relevant core and key technologies.
