IPTV Technology Research Department is performing research and development on core technologies for next generation IPTV service with the aim of user-centered participation and common-ownership, personalization and service convergence. Our main research topics include quality-oriented mobility management, adaptive media processing based on scalability, open IPTV service platform, WEB based open IPTV middleware, core technologies for IPTV set-top-box, and Mobile IPTV core technologies based on IMT-Advanced mobile telecommunication technologies. We also performs the research on core technologies of adaptive media security.
Mobile Service Architecture Research Team
Mobile Service Architecture Research Team is developing technologies related to the architecture of IPTV system, the next generation converged IPTV terminal and the core technologies of Mobile IPTV based on IMT-Advanced mobile telecommunication. For IPTV architecture, our members have been developing the open system architecture of IPTV, and deployment scenario of next generation IPTV services. For the development of converged IPTV terminal, we have been developing IPTV STB(Set-Top-Box) SoC, IPTV STB and related middleware for enhancing the IPTV STB functions, and also developing the SVC(Scalable Video Coding) hardware Codec and mobile IPTV terminal platform as an core technologies for next generation IPTV convergence terminal. For the development of Mobile IPTV based on IMT-Advanced technologies, we have been developing core technologies for Mobile IPTV such as the performance enhancement technology for mobile access network and the organizing and controlling technologies for IPTV service network, and developing the service control technologies based on multi-carrier technology to provide high-quality IPTV services.
IP Broadcasting Media Technology Research Team
IPTV Media Research Team conducts researches mainly focused on video coding and transmission in broadcasting and telecommunication convergence environment. The objectives of the research are development of core technologies, standardization, and IPR for QoS guaranteed broadcasting contents created, delivered over various networks, and consumed with various devices. Currently, in cooperation with industry and universities, IPTV Media Research Team is developing core technologies for the following topics using MPEG4 AVC(Advanced Video Coding: 14496-10) Scalable Extension (SVC: Scalable Video Coding) standard:
Smart Service Control Research Team
Smart Service Control Research Team is developing group service and service continuity technology in the broadcast and telecommunication converged environment and open IPTV platform technology for IPTV convergence service and content sharing.
Multilateral service and service continuity technology supporting introduction of various broadcasting and telecommunication service of community type in wired and wireless, IPTV integrated network provider and realizes 3-screen convergence service in various types of terminals through session history based mobility control.
Open IPTV platform technology makes the closed IPTV service provider to create/provide various converged service and manage/distribute IPTV contents.
