  Study on nano convergence sensor technology

Overview

One of future IT core technologies is sensor technology to collect various information from surrounding objects and environment. Next-generation sensors would be developed to achieve micro-size, low power consumption, multiple and intelligent functions by converging semiconductor, MEMS and nano technologies. The nano convergence sensor team is carrying out R&D on various basic technologies for advanced sensors such as nano sensing material, MEMS sensor structure, monolithic CMOS*MEMS Integration process and sensing algorithm.

  

  Study on power control device technology

Overview

ETRI is developing the low power consumption power control circuit technology based on energy devices including of thermo electronic devices, piezoelectric devices, energy storage devices, high current power devices, and high efficient power control circuits including energy management IC, power management IC, energy and power management, BLDC motror driver circuit. It can be applied to the independent power supply for vehicle monitor system, active RFID/USN system and for deep brain or microcapsule.

  Study on Sensor Interface Platform technology

Overview

ETRI researches on the sensor interface related circuit and signal processing techniques to support the diversity/complexity/convergence of sensors as follows. First, we study on the analog circuit and the sensor interface algorithm based on a nano CMOS process technology with a high integration density to implement multi-functioned sensor interface. Especially, we focus on the various resolution and speed signal transform and the adaptive signal transform such as the enhanced linearity hybrid-signal transform. Second, we study on the image stitching and the recognition system to meet the needs for the security and the safety. Currently, we focus on the algorithm and the hardware for the image stitching and the vehicle/pedestrian detection with multiple cameras in order to improve the safety of drivers/pedestrians. Finally, we are going to develope the sensor interface platform technique to provide new services by the combinations of pre-stated circuit and signal processing techniques.

  Study on silicon new technology

Overview

For the realization of future high-performance computers, Silicon photonics technology is expected to be a next-generation semiconductor I/O chip technology, which enables inter-chip, intra-chip optical data communications in silicon CMOS platform. This technology can provide the solution for the data interconnection bottleneck problem, heat and power efficiency problem for various highly-integrated, high-speed computing and communication systems.
