Greeting

The Robot Research Department has led the R&D of the IT based Intelligent Robot and the Cognition technology with a vision to become a worldwide leader in commercializing the IT convergence intelligent service robot technology and in developing the highest core competence technology. This department has made efforts to converge the IT technology and cognition technology to the industrial robotic industry and the traditional industries, by which IT based intelligent robot application industries could be innovatively progressed and the quality of human lives would be enhanced. We are doing research with the target, where we will develop technologies for the best commercial products and services. Also we aimed to produce the most patents in the nation and the 5th in the world. Our group is pursuing to develop the commercial technology and propagating them to industry for expanding the robot markets and have activities to lead the domestic and the international standardization to promote the effectivity of intelligent service robot industry and its international competition.

Introduction of Research Division

The Robot Research Department plans to develop next IT based robot core technologies based on the network robot and cognition technologies and make these technologies be domestic and international standards.

The network robot technology deals with the compatibility between robot S/W platforms, the interoperability of a variety of communication and information devices, inter-connectability of heterogeneous networks, the S/W platforms, standards and implementation models for an intelligent robot in the ubiquitous environments

The cognition technology is composed of the technology of recognizing environments, objects and motion, Haman/IT-Terminal interaction technology, Human-Robot interaction technology, robot emotion representation and context-aware technology and knowledge reasoning technology which have a massive ripple effect on various fields of industry including robot and IT.
