  Media Service System Technology based SMMD

We are developing SMMD(Single Media Multi Device) technology which generates and plays new concept media called ne-media. ne-media includes not only previous audio, video, and text but also device control information, synchronization information(between media and device control), and sensory information. The sensory information express the various real-sense effects like scent, temperature, wind, flash, lighting, vibration, motion and etc. The real-sense effects are reproduced by real-sense devices called actuator(fan, heater, dimmer, motion chair and etc.) and these effects can make users feel the reality.

Until now, 4D experience system is developed by SMMD technology. A left/right video and real-sense effects metadata can be fused into single ne-media by SMMD authoring tool. 3D image can be played and several real-sense effects can be reproduced by SMMD home-server and actuator. Also, extends the range of contents which can be supported by ne-media to 3D-virtual space and the real-sense effects are added into metaverase environment by using the SMMD map-builder. This real-sense effects can be represented according to the location and movement of avatar.

Also, we are developing realistic multiverse platform aiming the next-generation game engine for realistic entertainment services. Multiverse is short for multiple metaverse(virtual space), in which avatars can move through the portal between one metaverse and others. In addition, users can live as the same avatar or another one in each metaverse environment. The realistic multiverse platform supports social networking based user communities and it can give users immersion and realism with activity recognition and inference technologies from multi-sensor device.

For the future, the real-sense information of real world can be obtained by using the mobile platform like real-sense camera, and real-sense effects can be extracted at the scene automatically by SMMD technology. Also, the more realistic five-sense service will be provided by applying the Augmented Reality technology to the ne-media actuator. Also, it can be useful in building realistic entertainment platform supporting mixed t can b, augmented reality or something by integrating bile platfsearches such as multimodal interaction console and user-oriented contents authoring tool.

  Study on Home Network Middleware

To prevent users from being dissatisfied by inconvenience or nonconfidence of the home environment, the ubiquitous adaptive middleware autonomously diagnoses and recovers the blended-faults such as device faults, mis-use, mis-configurations, or resource leakages was studied.

And, the study on the interoperability between the heterogeneous home network middleware devices is advanced for overcome one of the serious hurdles of the extension of the home network market. This development have to be meet the technical standard announced by Government, and it is based on the ISO/IEC JTC1 SC25 standard.

  Study on Ship Area Network

The technology is presenting well-defined SAN (Ship Area Network) model with utilizing wired and wireless network technologies. And, based on the SAN technology, remote maintenance service is developed which is remotely monitoring and controlling the alarm monitoring system, vessel data recoder, Integrated bridge system, cargo management system, and so on.

  A technology of the energy management platform for Green Home

“Green Home” is a no-carbon emission building house that all required energy for their life is provided by itself based on some renewable energy and ICT(Information and Communication technologies).
Renewable energy is generated from natural resources such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, and geothermal heat, which are renewable (naturally replenished). Technologies for the 'Green Home' are composed of passive system technologies and active system technologies.
The passive system technology is known as heat insulation, heat storing, natural energy including solar energy technology and so forth.
The active system technology is for an additional energy effects through energy management technologies based on ICT technologies.

The energy management platform technology for the Green Home monitors and controls all detailed energy usage to provide efficient energy management function, which reduces carbon-emission from building house with optimizing the electric power consumption in the green home.
The aim of the technology is to achieve no-carbon emission in the green home, which is based on interfacing home area network and service and includes IT convergence hardware and software technologies.
It consists of integrated monitoring interface module and energy management framework technologies which provides functions green energy management, remote energy control and energy service management.

  EMM technology for energy efficient building

Current technologies for building energy management have provided them with low energy efficient building management resulting from per building based management and low level energy management function. The EMM technology for energy efficient building is a technology to improve an energy-efficiency of multiple buildings, which is based on a remote EMM management center.

The EMM management center monitors and analyzes energy usage data consumed by multiple buildings. Then, it does a pattern analysis and energy prediction for the buildings' energy usage. Base on the analysis and prediction data, it detects some inefficiency within the building energy usage, provides some drastic steps for energy saving. Building energy manager can controls the building's energy system based on BAS(Building Automation System) to remove the inefficiency and to optimize the building energy usage.

In the EMM technology for an energy efficient building, we deal with EMM(Energy Monitoring and Management) technology to collection, backup and control of the building energy usage data, EOM(Energy Optimization and Maintenance) to provide functions for the optimization of a building energy usage and maintenance of a building energy facilities resulting from energy usage analysis and their evaluation, and ESC(Energy Security Convergence) for a secured building platform. We research and develope some core technologies and platform technologies related to above EMM, EOM, and ESC technologies.

The EMM technology for energy efficient building is for energy optimization during the building maintenance process surpassing 50% in the building energy consumption. Each detail technologies are described as follows.

  • EMM(Energy Monitoring & Management): providing various drastic energy managing service functions and environment between remote integrated EMM management center and building facilities including BAS(Building Automation System) system based on integrated BAS middle-ware function to control totally all heterogeneous BAS system and interfacing with smart-grid or micro-grid within a building environment.
  • EOM(Energy Optimization & Maintenance): providing building energy optimization and maintenance function based on analysis of building energy management effects and finding energy usage optimization based the building energy usage data.
  • ESC(Energy Security Convergence): providing integrated building energy usage data and energy maintenance security functions between the EMM center and remote multiple buildings.
 

  Green Convergence Wireless System Technologies

Green Converged Wireless System Research Team is focused on the development of the wireless system and network technologies related with WPAN (Wireless Personal Area Network), WBAN (Wireless Body Area Network), and SUN (Smart Utility Network). WPAN is applied for the purpose of connecting A/V consumer electronics, PC and peripherals, various portable terminals, or sensor devices in the home or office environments as the personal area communications and networks to exchange information anytime, anywhere, anybody in the ubiquitous services.
As the core technologies to establish the WPAN environments, we currently develop ultra high rate short range wireless communication technology with Gbps data rate and location awareness low rate short range wireless communication technology with centimeters accuracy.

WBAN is the technology for the wireless devices and networks to communicate the devices inside human body and outside human body. Now we develop PHY and MAC technology in low power and small size in-body wireless systems used for low rate bio-sensor information or capsule endoscope with images with respect to the devices inside human body, and PHY and MAC for on-body wireless systems used for the bio information detection, entertainment and consumer electronics controls. Eventually we aimed to develop converged wireless systems including the in-body and on-body communications so that they are applied to the core components for the services such as healthcare, supporting disabilities, entertainment.

SUN which is used as the wireless devices and networks applied to the terminal devices in the networking field for the intelligent power infra-structure business, is the core technology for the development of green home to provide bountiful and convenient life and reduce energy by sharing the several utility information, such as the electrics, water, and gas inside or outside home, between the providers and users.
We research new type of smart utility wireless communication technology to fulfill the requirement of building the SUN while the existing WPAN systems have the limitations of transmission range, data rate, and network connectivity, because the wireless communication technology comprising the SUN has to transmit and receive necessary data from the devices widely spread and networked in dedicated geographical area

  LED Visible Light Communication Technology

LED Communication Research Team has been developing a wireless communication using LED(Light Emitting Diode) and PD(Photo Diode), a LED full color illumination modulation, a communication between LED modules. This technology leads a Green growth such as lower CO2 and waste.
A LED wireless visible communication technology can make new communication service as well as LED illumination anywhere LEDs use indoor illumination, sign lighting, vehicle lighting.
A LED full color illumination can make more sensible lighting color using a modulation. We are developing communication technology between LED modules.
