Honam Research Center

Focusing on the R&D related with the regional strategic industries and the commercialization with advanced
technologies

ETRI HRC(Honam Research Center) has pulled out all the stops as a technical hub for promotion of leading and strategic industries of Honam region such as optical electronics, car and shipbuilding industries.

As local centers have an important role to lead the related technologies of regional strategic industries, HRC will process the specialized R&BD and support of local companies in parallel by making full use of the FTTH(Fiber to the Home) project output like the optical communication core modules, related equipment and infrastructure like FTTH/IPTV test bed which were established through this project from 2005.

According to the mentioned management policy of local centers, we fulfill the research of next generation's photo-fusion optical communication module and "Experimental Project for the realization of Green IT City model based on Photo-fusion technologies" project developing the module and service technologies with regional companies together for low energy consumption and coverage extension on a metropolitan scale.

Additionally, for successful commercialization of strategic products related to the regional industries, we try to develop and support IT converged technologies like optical fiber networking, optical sensors and a lot of customized IT fusion technologies with counterpart local companies.

Lastly, we also have performed an international certification process like testing and design support around 200 items each year since 2006.
